Community Day!!

On Friday last week the entire school participated in a new event called Community Day. There were lots of cool events run by the teachers like bobbing for bottlecaps following a line with a blindfold on and indoor 7 a side football. They even police and firemen run a police and fire training event! By far the most popular event was the inflatable obstacle course, and within all this fun was a House Competition! In every event you got points depending on how well you did in the event. All four houses did well fourth Rawhiti, third Uru, second Tonga, first RAKI!!

Two weeks ago our class started an extraordinary art project. We got into pairs and got assigned to do a different part of the artwork. The original picture was an A4 piece of paper, but we are making each section an A2 piece of paper. It has been really fun drawing different things for art but it has also been a little bit challenging, because we had to link up our section with the people that have the section next to yours. It was a very enjoyable activity to do in class. I reckon we all hope to do something very similar in the classroom during the year.

Limericks

TO CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK’S DAY, ROOM 19 DECIDED TO WRITE SOME LIMERICKS ABOUT THEMSELVES AND FELLOW CLASSMATES. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT A LIMERICK IS:

SOME OF THE LIMERICKS WERE STORY-LIKE, SOME WERE FUNNY, SOME WERE JUST TO TAKE THE MICKEY OUT OF OUR MATES. THEY WERE ALL GREAT. WE MANAGED TO GET A FEW SAMPLES OF WHAT WE WROTE:

“THERE ONCE WAS A BOY NAMED JOHN
WHO LIKED TO EAT THE BOMBS
ONE DAY HE FELT SICK
AND HEARD A FAINT ‘TICK!’
AND WITH THAT, POOR OLD JOHN WAS GONE.”
-SEAN MACKIEWICZ

“There once was a boy named Sam
Who had a unique pet lamb
He fed it lots
from big pots
then the lamb went Kabam”
By Sam

“There was a young man named Chester
Who believed everyone else was a lesser
They bowed down to him
Worshipped him as their king
And they all knew deep down he was better”
By Chester

What limericks can you think of? Let us know in the comments below.
Bye!

For our homework we are doing something for others. Whether it is making them laugh, making them happy or even buying them flowers. some of the quests that we are doing are donating to buskers, playing board games with the elderly, staying healthy with a fitness plan and many, many more! We are going to upload many of the quests our friends have done such as singing katy perry until your lungs pop, Trying a new food that you really didn’t like before and a lot more! So far this has been going very well and has been very fun! We hope that we have been helping more people and we hope that we have made people have happier days so far whether it’s them laughing at us or its us helping them! This assignment was especially good because it had a vary of all our talents but then it also helped us get out of our comfort zone and get more confident in different areas!

Overnighter!

Overnighter!!

On Monday the 2nd of March, Room 19 and the rest of team five went to Paekakariki. When we got to the holiday camp, we heard a few rules before we got to put up our tents. Putting up the tents was tricky for some people, we had to find the right size tents for poles and vice versa, so it took a while. After setting up the tents we put on our togs and sunscreen and made our way down to the beach. The teachers spread out in the sea to set the boundaries of where we could swim. Then most of us sprinted into the water before we got  thrown in the water by Mr Morris because had said that the last person left on the beach would get thrown in. We spent around 2 hours at the beach having fun before we had to leave to go back to the campsite to cook dinner.
At camp we have to make our own dinner to eat. A lot of people made things like nachos, tacos and some had pasta or hamburgers. We would like to thank all the parents who came and helped make this wonderful experience happen.

On Monday, Team 5 went on the overnighter at Paekakariki. We did lots of fun activities such as; Spotlight, Swimming at the beach and much more. Spotlight was a really fun experience with people running around in the dark trying to find ten different colored cubes without being caught by the teachers. It was a fine hot day to go for a swim and relax at the beach. The waves were spectacular, they were becoming bigger and longer while a crowd of kids trying to jump over them. Cooking dinner was also a highlight with some dinners being delicious and some um… not so much. On the last day we went for a walk walking up steep rocky hills then onto the beach. The walk took a while with tired looking faces trudging up the hill. Once we got back to the campsite we had lunch and then got ready for the trip back to school.
